Latino Heritage Month
| September 12th to October 15th, 2008 This citywide celebration is a month-long event scheduled from September 12 to October 15, 2008. The event showcases the cultural and historical roots of Latino heritage.
Santa Barbara Fiesta
| July 30th to August 3rd, 2008 When Old Spanish Days started in 1924, “it was all about the community coming together. In announcing his honorary El Presidentes Dave and Sharon Dorsey, Taylor noted that Dave is a former Santa Barbara Sheriff who was instrumental in the D.A.R.E. program and coaching youth sports in the community. Sharon Dorsey also served as the Spirit of Fiesta in 1958.
Father Virgil Cordano is also being recognized as director emeritus of Old Spanish Days, the first such honor, for his years of service to the community and Fiesta.
Tall Ships Festival

Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival
| June 27th to August 3rd, 2008 Presented by the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company and California Lutheran University, the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival is one of the area’s most popular outdoor theatrical events. Visitors are immersed in the Shakespeare experience as festival grounds open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking and pre-show entertainment with musicians, dancing, juggling and sword-fighting demonstrations.
